Daemen College to Receive $2 Million From the U.S. Department of Education Title III Strengthening Institutions Program

Daemen College will receive $2 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Education Title III Strengthening Institutions program.

The Title III Strengthening Institutions program helps eligible institutions of higher education, in part, to expand their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds to improve and strengthen the academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability.

"Daemen College takes pride in its role as an affordable private college that serves a significant population of economically disadvantaged and first-generation college students from the Western New York region,” stated Daemen President Dr. Edwin Clausen."This funding from the U.S. Department of Education will further Daemen's outstanding reputation for and commitment to undergraduate learners.”

Daemen College's Title III includes a range of strategies to support student success. These strategies include:

  • Strengthening student information systems, including the development of an Early Warning System to best identity and support students who may be at academic risk.
  • Faculty development and curriculum innovation, including use of advanced technologies.
  • Strategic interventions and academic supports, including a preparatory Summer Bridge Program for at-risk students as they transition from high school to college.
  • Continuous improvement through systematic assessment.
