AMHERST, N.Y. – A group of Daemen College athletic training students volunteered along with other route marshals who directed more than 10,000 walkers in the 2015 Strides Against Breast Cancer walk held on Oct. 17.

“The students greatly enjoyed the inspirational spirit of the event and giving back to the community,” said Dr. Nicole Chimera, chairperson of athletic training. “Uniting together at the walk really makes a difference in the lives of many who are touched by breast cancer.”

Buffalo’s 20th annual event, which benefited the American Cancer Society, was held for the first time at Canalside since moving from Niagara Square.

Daemen’s student group was overseen by Dr. Lynn Matthews, assistant professor of athletic training. Serving as volunteer route marshals were Stephanie Czaja of North Tonawanda; Joelle Davis of Buffalo; Courtney Hayden of Angola; Erin Seiner of Pittsburgh; Griffin Spatorico of North Tonawanda; and Mitch Taffe of Ortonville, Minn.
