Oct 30, 2019AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen College recognized the generosity of Trustee Robert Chur and his family and the 2019-20 recipients of the Robert and Carol Chur Scholarship at a recent on-campus reception held in their honor.
“The generous support from Bob, Carol, and the entire Chur family will enable our scholarship recipients to pursue a Daemen education that will prepare them to be skilled leaders and practitioners in health care and human services,” said Dr. Michael Brogan, senior vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college. “In addition to providing much needed financial assistance, this scholarship shows our students that others believe in their ability to succeed in their studies and as professionals in their field.”
This year’s recipients of the Robert and Carol Chur Scholarship are Katherine Casale ‘18 of West Henrietta, physical therapy major; Sarah Federowicz ‘19 of Cheektowaga, physician assistant major; Emma Madison of Lancaster, nursing major; Rosalie Noyes ‘19 of West Seneca, social work major; and Fabian Wilde of Amherst, health promotion major.
“Thank you so much to the Chur family for helping me and the other scholarship recipients accomplish goals that we are passionate about and to do so at a great college,” said Federowicz. “This scholarship support will allow me to work fewer hours and to focus more on my studies and developing my clinical skills.”
The $3,000 annual scholarship is awarded to Daemen students in good academic standing and in their third or fourth year of studies in health and human services majors. A total of 21 students have benefitted from the scholarship since it was established in 2015.
