A Blueprint for Campus Accountability: Lessons from the Pace University Experience
This
case study describes an institution-wide approach to self-assessment in academic and administrative departments at Pace University in New York. Self-assessment was built into Pace’s 2003 strategic plan and multiple indicators were used to track progress on the goals of that plan. This case study includes information on Pace’s use of National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) and the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA), locally developed tests, assessment of Pace’s Core Curriculum and academic departments, faculty teaching portfolios, and more. In addition, the case study includes examples of financial indicators used to track “means to the end of learning.”
