Meet the Vice President for Academic Affairs & Dean of the College
On June 1, 2011, Daemen College named Dr. Michael S. Brogan, PT, DPT, PhD, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College. Dr. Brogan was most recently Dean of the Division of Health and Human Services at Daemen College.
Dr. Brogan’s Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees are from Daemen College. He also holds a Master of Science in Health Education and Evaluation, and a PhD in Education Administration-Higher Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Dr. Michael S. Brogan has over 26 years of clinical, academic, and research experience. He has served as an Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education, Faculty Member, Chairperson of the Physical Therapy Department, and for the last six years, served as the Dean of the Division of Health and Human Services at Daemen College. Additionally, he is a Board Certified Diplomat and Wound Care Specialist of the American Academy of Wound Management, and a Fellow of the American College of Certified Wound Care Specialists.
In addition to his academic responsibilities at Daemen, Dr. Brogan has lectured across the United States on wound management and was invited by Beijing University of Chinese Medicine to lecture on the topic of chronic wounds. In 2010, he delivered a paper entitled Chronic Wounds: An Opportunity to Bridge Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine Through Academics, Research, and Clinical Practice, at the Beijing Forum on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), in Beijing China.
In 2004, Dr. Brogan was named one of Daemen College’s Distinguished Alumni, chosen for outstanding dedication to the College. Additional honors and awards include co-recipient of the Robert E. Salant Research Award, given to a Daemen College research team by the New York Physical Therapy Association (2002 and 1996); Outstanding Faculty Award, Daemen College (2001); Who’s Who Among Americas Teachers (1996, 1997, 2004), and Business First's Health Care 50: 2006.
During his tenure at Daemen he has been actively engaged in securing and participating in multiple grants and associated projects; and, he has aggressively participated in numerous collaborative research endeavors within and outside of the college. He and his wife enjoy their two children and four grandchildren, all of whom continue to live in Buffalo. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and New York State Air National Guard.
