U.S. Department of Education Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant

In September of 2011, Daemen College received notification that it was one of 34 institutions in the nation to be selected for a competitive, five-year $2 million grant through the U.S. Department of Education Title III Strengthening Institutions program.

The Title III Strengthening Institutions program helps eligible institutions of higher education, in part, to expand their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds to improve and strengthen the academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability.

Daemen College's Title III includes a range of strategies to support student success. These strategies include:

· Strengthening student information systems, including the development of an Early Warning System to best identify and support students who may be at academic risk.

· Faculty development and curriculum innovation, including use of advanced technologies.

· Strategic interventions and academic supports, including a preparatory Summer Bridge Program for at-risk students as they transition from high school to college.

· Continuous improvement through systematic assessment.
