Policies and Procedures

The Process

  1. Meet with your academic advisor to decide on an appropriate service learning course.
  2. Meet with the Service Learning Coordinator at a semester 'Information Session' or stop in the Wick Center, Room 206, to review service-learning and site placement options.
  3. Complete the Service-Learning Registration Form and take the signed form to the Registrar’s Office, Duns Scotus 123.
  4. Register for the service-learning course on Web Advisor.

All academic service learning course grades are recorded on the student's official transcripts.

Service-Learning courses fulfill the Civic Engagement Core Competency.

Students should check with their academic advisor as some academic majors require additional service hours beyond the 60 hours required by Daemen for graduation (see chart below).

"I think one of the most crucial aspects of the Daemen curriculum is the required internship. I was an accounting intern for both a private health care company and a certified public accounting firm. I was able to apply lessons learned in the classroom to real business situations. When my internships were over, each company offered me a full-time position."
