Unpaid- Theatre Administration Intern for Shea's Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, NY
Duties: The theatre administration interns work directly with Shea's Performing Arts Center administrative staff primarily in the areas of Development, Events Planning, and Education. Additional assistance in Group Sales, Accounting, Production and Restoration is also required as needed. Provide general office support as needed for all departments; duties may include database compilation, mass mailings, making copies and file maintenance. Assist with logistical planning and preparation for various events and programming including fund-raisers and special events, the M&T Bank Broadway Performance series and the On School Time Series. Become knowledgeable of Shea's current programming, shows and administration and offer creative input for future initiatives. Qualifications & Prior Experience: Theatre Administration Interns must demonstrate a background and/or interest in communications, arts administration or business. Organizational skills, knowledge of basic office equipment and computer programs, written and oral communication skills and ability to multi-task are required. Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft word required. Majors/Area of Study: Preferred Majors: Communications, Arts Administration, Business. Unpaid- Assistant to the Director for The Buffalo Niagara Film Festival in Buffalo, NY
Eligibility: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing, 2.0 GPA, and a Film/Video production/Communication major or minor preferred. The internship will last one semester. You will receive three hours of academic credit for 140 hours of work. Additional credit may be awarded for internships that involve more hours. Work: 140 hours of work at an approved internship site. Responsibilities: Students will act as a liaison between the Film Festival and their University. Coordinate and run events with local theaters. Correspond with filmmakers, production companies and media outlets. Shoot, edit, design and produce promotional materials, videos and web content. Assist with the day to day running of the Festival April 8th - 17th, 2011. The students are required to keep a daily journal, recording noteworthy experiences on the job. The journal is not simply a record of daily events, but rather, a commentary that relates the internship and their experiences.
