Unpaid-Art Intern for the Cantalician Center for Learning in Buffalo, NY
Cantalician Center for Learning was founded in 1956 as a school for "Special Children". Today the Cantalician Center houses three sites which reach out to individuals from 18 months of age to adulthood. Each facility continues to provide services to people with developmental and physical disabilities throughout Western New York. The two educational facilities offer programs in Day Care, Pre-School, and School Age classrooms. Services include physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavior support, vision services and an evaluation unit. The Cantalician Center Community Services offers programs in supported employment, adult day treatment, case management, and on-site vocational training. Intern needed to help our Day Habilitation individuals to do art work for display. This art work will be in different medians. Qualifications/Skills: Experience in different medians of art work. Unpaid- Assistant to the Director for The Buffalo Niagara Film Festival in Buffalo, NY
Eligibility: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing, 2.0 GPA, and a Film/Video production/Communication major or minor preferred. The internship will last one semester. You will receive three hours of academic credit for 140 hours of work. Additional credit may be awarded for internships that involve more hours. Work: 140 hours of work at an approved internship site. Responsibilities: Students will act as a liaison between the Film Festival and their University. Coordinate and run events with local theaters. Correspond with filmmakers, production companies and media outlets. Shoot, edit, design and produce promotional materials, videos and web content. Assist with the day to day running of the Festival April 8th - 17th, 2011. The students are required to keep a daily journal, recording noteworthy experiences on the job. The journal is not simply a record of daily events, but rather, a commentary that relates the internship and their experiences.
