Our mission is to protect and restore the quality and quantity of our water while connecting people to water.  Job Description: Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper is seeking a dedicated person to join our organization through Western New York AmeriCorps as the Public Health and Environmental Justice Education Coordinator. This position will work in coordination with Riverkeeper's Public Health and Environmental Justice program by assisting in education and outreach regarding fish consumption advisories, food security, environmental justice, and other related topics. The Education Coordinator will also aid in the development of public health outreach materials and with the facilitation of public educational programs, (specifically to Buffalo's diverse refugee population in collaboration with Jericho Road Ministries). Other aspects of the job include sociological research, data analysis and management, and support of other Riverkeeper projects, specifically the Forest Buffer program. With the support of Congress, the Economic Opportunity Act was passed into law and over the next two years over 1,600 Community Action Programs were created. Today, only about 900 of those original programs are still in operation, fighting an enemy that has not lost its foothold in our socio-economic landscape. In 1965 th CAO was designated as the official anti-poverty agency for the county with a mission that focused on serving the unmet needs of our low-income population. Over the years the CAO has been recognized by the Community Action Program movement as one of the nation's strongest operations.  Job Description: Responsible for the formulation, coordination and implementation of all facets of the Early Head Start Program, including but not limited to, yearly budget and narrative preparations, staffing, Performance Standards & NYS Day Care Licensing Standards. Administers and supervises the direct run agency program and all of its service areas (child, education, health, mental health, and nutrition, family and community service area, disabilities service area, and program/management service area).  Qualifications/Skills: Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Education with specialization in Early Childhood, Social Work, Human Services or Business & a minimum of four years work experience, at least two of which must have been in administrative. Must have at lest two years of the above experience with children neonatal through three years of age. Or A Bachelor's degree in the above areas & a minimum of five years successful work experience in human services, at least two of which must have been in an administrative capacity.
