Co-op/Internship Education Program (CFE 97)
The Daemen College Cooperative Education (Co-op) Program offers students a unique opportunity to combine classroom study with practical work experience while earning academic credit.
Daemen College, committed to experiential education, has operated a Co-op program since 1973. Today, from an active pool of numerous and varied employers, more than 100 Daemen students can be found in Cooperative Education opportunities during a given school year.
Co-op Field Experience gives students contact with the professional work world that lies beyond the classroom walls. Students see firsthand the real nature of work in their field of study and gain valuable insights which can then be shared in the classroom.
Daemen's Co-op Program is designed to help students identify and develop strengths, interests and skills as well as provide necessary networking opportunities to help our students succeed.
Reference/Credential File
The Department will house and forward letters of references which students and alumni arrange to have written for them by professional associates. Students and alumni receive twelve free requests to have up to eight references at a time forwarded to employers. Each file request after these twelve is then $3 per request.* Fees may change as more school districts join online application systems. In a job search, this helps with organization, saves time, and relieves references from writing several letters. We strongly recommend opening your file before graduating and updating your file as needed to keep it current. Forms to open and send your file to employers are available in the Co-op & Career Development Center.
Specific Career Handouts
A collection of handouts is available to assist students and alumni with basic career development and job search information.
The Resume,
The Cover Letter and
The Interview are viewable and printable in pdf format. These handouts and additional reference information on these and other topics, including portfolios, relocating, negotiating a salary, and other topics are also available in the Co-op & Career Development Center in the Wick Center.
Resume and Cover Letter Critiques
Students and alumni can have their resumes and cover letters critiqued by a counselor during an individual appointment.
Practice Interviews
Students and alumni can schedule individual sessions with a counselor to role-play a job interview which is recorded and then played back for immediate discussion. This is very helpful in preparing for future interviews and evaluating interview strengths and weaknesses.
