Cooperative Education
Co-operative Education: a great way to enhance your major, gain relevant experience, receive on-the-job training, and get college credit for it!
What? A co-op is an internship, or field placement, that fits your major and interests.
Who? Co-ops are required by some Daemen College majors- but all students can benefit from a co-op!
Why? Take a co-op for career exploration, to learn new skills, to network with professionals, to boost your resume, and to experience the real world of work!
When? You may begin a co-op as soon as your sophomore year, or after your first full semester, if you are a transfer student.
Where? Many local, national, international corporations and non-profit organizations offer internships.
How? Enroll in CFE 97, the Co-op Prep Seminar; talk to the professional staff in Co-op and Career Development to identify placements; register, accept a placement and begin!
What else?
CFE 97 Co-op Prep Seminar or CFE 101 Career Exploration & Development must be completed as a prerequisite to a Co-op Field Experience
You must have at least a 2.00 GPA (2.5 for Business curriculum)
Every 50 hours on-site is equal to one academic credit - a three credit co-op requires a minimum of 10-12 hours per week during the semester you are registered
Speak to your faculty advisor about fitting a co-op into your schedule!
