Psychology Majors considering a careers in Professional Psychology:
Professional Psychology Traineeship Program is designed for recent college graduates who intend to pursue advanced studies in psychology or a related mental health field, but who seek a year of field training and experience before matriculating. Scholarships:
In 2006, MAEE created the Anna Tackett Scholarship to assist graduate students who plan to enter the career development field upon completion of their graduate programs. One scholarship is available per year in the amount of $1500 and will be awarded to a graduate student pursuing a degree in the counseling/student affairs or related field from a MAEE member institution. Center for Women in Government & Civil Society Fellowship openings for graduate students: Paid policy field placements in poverty, state/local government relations, immigrant issues, and other state policy issues of concern to women, children and families Fellows are full-time graduate students in the Spring semester, and work thirty hours a week in their public policy placements. A $9000 stipend plus tuition assistance are awarded to Fellows through a competitive selection process. Based in Albany, New York, this six month program runs from the beginning of January through the end of June each year. Through a balanced and comprehensive approach that combines academic instruction, placement in a New York State-based public policy position, and personal and professional mentoring, the program supports fellows to: -Navigate the labyrinth of the public policy world with both theoretical and practical instruction from leaders in the public policy arena; -Research, analyze, and advocate for issues of concern to women, children, families and communities in New York State; -Strengthen skills in writing, public policy analysis and creative and critical thinking, and sharpen interpersonal and critical skills needed to become effective leaders; and, -Explore ways to overcome personal and professional barriers to leadership, and develop a professional network of mentors and become part of an expanding community of alumna Fellows.
