Cooperative Education and Career Development
Services
Reference/Credential File - The Department will house and forward letters of references which students and alumni arrange to have written for them by personal and professional
associates. Students and alumni receive twelve free requests to have up to eight references at a time forwarded to employers. Each file request after these twelve is then $3 per request.* Fees may change as more school districts join online application systems. In a job search, this helps with
organization, saves time, and relieves references from writing several letters. It also guarantees that the reference file is official. We recommend updating your file as needed to keep it current.
Specific Career Handouts - A collection of handouts is available to assist students with basic career development and job search information. The Resume, The
Cover Letter and The Interview are viewable and printable in pdf format. These handouts and additional reference information on these and other topics, including portfolios, relocating, negotiating a salary, etc. are also available in the Co-op & Career Development Office in Wick Center.
Resume and Cover Letter Critiques - Students and alumni can have their resumes and cover letters critiqued by a counselor through an individual appointment.
Practice Interviews - Students can schedule individual sessions with a counselor to role play a job interview which is recorded and then played back on videotape. This is often helpful in preparing for future
interviews and evaluating interview strengths and weaknesses.
Graduate Survey - Each year, six months after graduation, the Department locates Daemen's most recent graduates to determine how they are doing with their career development. This often reintroduces the Department
and its services to Daemen's alumni and provides the Department with information helpful in assisting current students. All names and associated information remain confidential. This information helps us calculate accurate
employment statistics and identifies current employment trends, thereby keeping us informed of the job market for our students.
Job and Internship Opportunities- Online job and internship postings including many links to company websites.
