List Membership

Membership in the major "announce" lists is automatic. Faculty or staff who wish to may subscribe or unsubscribe to faculty-l or students-announce lists.

Guidelines

The following suggestions are intended to make use of Daemen college announcement and discussion lists more productive.

  1. Use announcement lists only for significant announcements related to college business.
  2. Use the right announcement list to target the appropriate audience for your announcement. Announcement lists include the following:
    • faculty-announce (all full-time faculty plus those part-time faculty for whom we have addresses)
    • full-time-faculty-announce (all full-time faculty)
    • chairs-announce (department chairs)
    • admin-announce (administrative staff)
    • staff-announce (non-administrative staff)
    • residents-announce (all resident students)
    • commuters-announce (all commuter students)

The following list addresses are provided as a convenience to combine the memberships of some of the more narrowly targeted lists above, and should be used only where appropriate:
    • faculty-admin-announce (faculty and administrative staff, excluding hourly staff)
    • faculty-staff-announce (all Daemen employees for whom we have addresses, including faculty, administrative staff and non-administrative staff.)
    • students-announce (all Daemen students)

Presently posting to the student lists is restricted. Faculty and staff who wish to post should call or email Lori Budniewski, lbudniew@daemen.edu. All Daemen employees have privileges to post to any of the faculty or staff lists. To facilitate communication, I would like to leave it that way, but please cooperate by limiting use of these lists to legitimate announcements.
  3. Use discussion lists such as Faculty-L and JustFT-L for all kinds of discussion.

    • Faculty-L includes most full-time faculty, a few part-timers, and some administrative staff
    • JustFT-L is limited to full time faculty, and does not include any administrators or administrative staff.

Replies to discussion list messages go to all list members. Since membership in these lists is optional, and does not include all faculty, do not use them for announcements of senate, EPC, or other college business which should be seen by all faculty.
  4. If you wish to make an announcement which is not college business, consider using Classifieds-L. Like the announcement lists, replies to Classifieds-L messages go only to the original sender. The membership of Classifieds-L is the same as Faculty-L.
  5. Use accurate and descriptive subject lines to help list members decide whether and when to read your posting.
  6. If you are communicating a small amount of text, consider including it in the body of the message instead of as an attachment. Avoid attaching large graphic files, or any files produced by non-standard software such as Photoshop or Microsoft Publisher.

If you have questions or suggestions about email list policies, contact Kelly Duran, kduran@daemen.edu . If you have questions or corrections relating to list membership, or would like to create a new list, contact Lori Budniewski, lbudniew@daemen.edu, at x8348 during regular business hours.

The United States and Venezuela are two different countries with different cultures and values, therefore the education is different. As I see it, the books, theories and the knowledge are all the same no matter where you are. What makes the difference is how the teacher is going to transmit all that to the student and what approach the teacher is going to use so the student can apply it in the future. At Daemen as a student we have the chance to create a good relationship with the teachers, which is priceless when we are in college.
