Photo Contest

Eligibility & Deadline

The photo contest is open to Daemen College students, alumni, faculty, staff, and administrators who have either studied or traveled abroad. International students are allowed to submit photos of their impressions of the United States. Photos and entry forms must be submitted according to official entry guidelines by

4:30pm, EST on Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Photo Criteria & Guidelines

  • Entrants may submit up to 2 matted photos. We require that you submit a print no larger than 8” x 10”.Photos may be cropped and treated for color enhancement, but should not possess extensive photo editing (e.g. adding elements from different photos into one shot via photo editing software). If you would like your photo to be considered for online and digital display, please also include a digital copy in .JPG or .TIFF format with a resolution no less than 72 pixels per inch (ppi). Digital-only submissions will not be considered. Entries must include a hard copy.
  • Entrants may submit only their own original photos and no more than two photos for the following categories:
    • People
    • Landscape & Nature
    • Architecture
    • Action/Movement (e.g. sporting event)
  • Attach a label on the back of each piece, including artist’s name, title of picture, year and location photo was taken, e-mail, and phone number.
  • U.S. entrants must submit photos taken abroad. International entrants may submit photos taken in the U.S.
  • Photo submissions must be original work. They should not be the recipient of a previous award in any contest.
  • All interested participants can submit photos until October 26, 2011, to the Office of Global Programs located on the first floor of Canavan Hall, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • GPO reserves the right to exclude any photos deemed inappropriate.

How to Enter

  1. Complete the entry and photo release forms – available in the Global Programs Office and online.
  2.  Return forms and submit photos to the Global Programs Office located in the 1st floor of Canavan Hall.

  3. All submission materials including completed entry forms and photos in an acceptable format must be received by Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 4:30 pm EST. Digital photos can be sent to international@daemen.edu. You will receive a confirmation e-mail with additional information once your entry has been processed.

Judging

  • Will take place online via MyDaemen
  • Entries will be on display in the Wick Student Center

Prizes

 Grand Prize: $100 Amazon Gift Card (One (1) prize)

Category winners (People, Landscape & Nature, Architecture, Action/Movement): $25 Amazon Gift Card (Four (4) prizes)
