National Scholarship Programs


Fulbright Program

Eligibility: All who submit application and proposal

The Fulbright Program- administered by The Institute of International Education- offers fellowships to U.S. students for study, research, and/or teaching assistantships abroad.


Gilman International Scholarships

Eligibility: Undergraduate Federal Pell Grant recipients

Over 1,200 scholarships of up to $5,000 will be awarded this academic year to students seeking to study abroad.


National Security Education Program (NSEP) Boren Awards

Eligibility: U.S. Undergraduate students

Boren Scholarships provide up to $20,000 to for students who study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests: Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, and the Middle East.


Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships

Eligibility: Graduating seniors, undergraduates, graduate students

Rotary Foundation provides one of the largest scholarships available for study abroad. Application only through Rotary club in one’s hometown or college town


Fund for Education Abroad

Eligibility: U.S. Undergraduate Students

Fund for Education Abroad awards are intended to support students planning to participate in high-quality, rigorous education abroad programs in the 2012-2013 academic year.

Critical Language Scholarship

Eligibility: US Citizens. Undergraduate, graduate, and PH.D. Students Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) institutes provide fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks during the summer.


Provider and Program Specific Scholarships


American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) Scholarships

Eligibility: All students who complete and submit application materials

AIFS annually awards more than $250,000 in scholarships to summer and semester students who submit application material demonstrating high academic achievement.


Spanish Studies Abroad Scholarships

Eligibility: Students enrolled in SSA study abroad programs in Spain and Argentina

Students applying for scholarships through SSA may receive an award of up to $2,500.


The Fund for International Service Learning

Eligibility: Students enrolled in an Accredited International Service Learning program

FISL is offering $500 scholarships to eligible students. Recipients are selected based on their academic and professional goals and accomplishments as well as financial need.


British Council

Eligibility: Students planning to study in the UK


Organization of American States

Eligibility: Undergraduate and Graduate Students

The OAS offers a variety of different scholarships for students interested in a number of different academic fields and geographic regions.

Antioch Education Abroad: Irwin Abrams & Paula L. Spier Scholarship

Eligibility: Undergraduate students; need-based

Any undergraduate student in good academic standing currently enrolled in a U.S. college or university, may apply for the scholarship towards an AEA study abroad program. Multiple scholarships will be awarded each year, and may range from $1,500 to $4,000.

Anne Wexler Masters Scholarship in Public Policy

Eligibility: American citizen

The Anne Wexler Scholarships are part of the Australian Government’s

Australia Awards Program and are funded through the Australian

Department of Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary

Education (DIISTRE) and administered by the Australian-American Fulbright Commission. Valued at up to AUD140, 000, this scholarship supports a Masters degree program in Australia of up to two years duration. Two Wexler Scholarships are awarded annually. One for an Australian citizen to complete a U.S. Masters degree in Public Policy and one for an American citizen to complete an Australian Masters program in Public Policy.


GlobaLinks Learning Abroad

Eligibility: American citizen

GlobaLinks Learning Abroad provides more than $600,00 in scholarships each year, with the majority of awards at $1,000 and up. These awards are designed to further enhance the affordability of GlobaLinks' programs.
