If you are an eligible student and have the ability, motivation, and potential to succeed, this program will be of great benefit to you.

The Arthur O Eve - Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) was created in 1969 by the New York State Legislature to assist in providing access for all New Yorkers to the state's private colleges and universities. The program has been in continuous operation at Daemen College since January, 1970. As an eligible HEOP student at Daemen College you will receive special academic and financial assistance to enable you to compete equally and earn an undergraduate degree. Sponsored jointly by the State Education Department and Daemen College, HEOP at Daemen will offer you comprehensive academic support services and full need financial aid packaging.

Program services include the following:

1. Pre-freshman Summer Program

All HEOP students participate in an intensive summer program which provides orientation to life at Daemen, testing and evaluation and a rigorous educational experience designed to promote sound study skills and reinforce basic skills. An individualized education program will be prepared for you for the summer and throughout your career.

2. Counseling

The HEOP staff at Daemen provides you with both individual and group counseling covering financial, academic, and personal concerns. The HEOP staff wants to make certain that you develop self-confidence, independence, and successful approaches to learning in College.

3. Academic Support

The Learning Center employs professional tutors, supplemented by successful student tutors, who will assist you in mastering required coursework.

4. Financial Aid

The HEOP staff, in cooperation with Daemen's Financial Aid office, provides for the financial needs of HEOP students. Students receive funding through a combination of Federal and State funds, Daemen Grants, and self-help. Your financial need is determined by the information you provide on the Free Federal Financial Aid Form.

Applicants wishing to be considered for admission to Daemen through HEOP should indicate so on the college application.
