SMART Choices for the Holidays...
We are taking on the teams at Medaille, Hilbert, Trocaire, and D'Youville Colleges in a battle to move more, eat healthy, and stress less throughout the holiday season in our 2nd annual SMART Choices for the Holidays Challenge! The challenge kicked off on Monday, November 25th and goes through Sunday, January 5th. Our end-of-challenge weigh-out will be held on Tuesday, January 14th from 10am-2pm in DS128. Happy holidays and good luck to all of our participants!
Good Nights, Great Days...
Our Good Nights, Great Days wellness challenge had nearly sixty participants working to snooze their way to wellness! Congratulations to Charlie Wesley who won a fabulous retreat in beautiful Canandaigua, NY including:
- $300 gift card to the Inn on the Lake Resort & Conference Center
- $50 gift card to the New York Wine and Culinary Center
The WaterWorks! Challenge...
The WaterWorks! challenge ended with fabulous results! The goal of this 20-day challenge was simple- to help participants identify their hydration needs and aim for 9-13 servings of hydrating liquids or high-water content fruits & vegetables each day. Our challenge participants were amazing- they logged a whopping total of 10,181 servings during this short challenge!
In addition to their fabulous fruit infusion tumbler, all participants who turned in their completed tracking sheets were entered in our grand prize drawing. Congratulations to Becca Bley, who won a Riverview Retreat at the Barton Hill Hotel & Spa in the charming Village of Lewiston!
Lunch 'n Learn Series...
The first of our 2013-2014 Lunch 'n Learn events was held on Wednesday, 10/22. Daemen's very own Allyson Kirk hosted "Take Charge of Your Health: Learn about what screening tests are recommended for adults, when and why!" Many thanks to Allyson for a fabulous presentation!

We have started a small Health & Wellness resource "library" in the Human Resources office and we need your help! To increase the size and variety of available resources, please consider donating your new or gently-used books and videos about:
Fitness & Exercise, Stress Relief, Nutrition & Healthy Eating, Cookbooks, Financial Management, Other self-help topics
Items in this collection are available for all employees to borrow, serving a two-fold purpose: to give new life to unused wellness items and and facilitate the sharing of wellness-related resources within the Daemen Community. To browse, borrow or donate, just stop by Human Resources or contact Kelly Pogore at x7883 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

Looking to improve your fitness? Take advantage of the available resources right here on campus! Use of the gymnasium, cardio and weight rooms is available to employees, free of charge, with a valid Daemen College Identification Card. One- and two-mile campus walking maps are also available below:
