Why should I use The Learning Center?

A common myth amongst students is that working with an academic coach is a sign of "stupidity" and that it is "unpopular". However, research has shown that students not only benefit from working in collaboration with other students, but students who have learned to study, review, and work with others are more likely to succeed academically and become more confident in their work.

Since students do not always excel in all subjects and some students benefit from practice with someone who can confirm correct answers and/or guide them to a clearer understanding of the information, The Learning Center is the perfect place to accommodate various student needs!

The academic coaching program here at Daemen College is designed to assist students to improve academic understanding and to increase student independence. Students are encouraged to meet with instructors and use resources such as academic coaches and study groups. So the next time you feel like you could use some assistance in a certain class or you are looking for a quiet place to review class material, just stop by The Learning Center and take advantage of its resources!
