President’s Charge for the Search

Dear Mr. Mills:

Dr. Gary A. OlsonI would like to thank you and the members of your committee for agreeing to conduct a search for Daemen Colleges next Vice President for Student Affairs. This is a critically important position for the College, and I am confident that you and the committee will run a professional, effective, and successful search.

As you know, identifying an individual who can lead our student activities division and be an effective advocate for our students is one of our highest priorities. The next Vice President for Student Affairs will assume a major leadership role at a college as it grows in size and stature. I am confident that your committee will help to identify an outstanding individual to become our next Vice President for Student Affairs.

To these ends, I would specifically charge you and the committee to give priority consideration to the following: 

  1. Conduct a national search for the most highly qualified individual who will best fit both the key requirements set forth in the published Job Description Profile, and the unique characteristics of Daemen College;
  2. Give careful consideration to identifying highly qualified under-represented minorities and women candidates among those individuals under review for the position;
  3. Where appropriate, encourage the committee to proactively contact highly qualified individuals whom members may know and recommend for the position; and
  4. Develop and maintain a website devoted specifically to the search, with links to important information that will assist in the committees recruitment process.

Finally, I urge the committee to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all proceedings of the search. All official communications from the committee should come from you as the Chair.

Again, I want to thank you and the committee as you begin the critically important recruitment of the Colleges next Vice President for Student Affairs.
