American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 0f 2009

American Opportunity and Lifetime Learning Credits

The College will report to the IRS required information about students who were enrolled for at least one (1) credit hour in any semester in the 2012 tax year. Students will receive a 1098-T Tuition Payment Statement in the mail by February 1, 2013.  The 1098-T may also be accessed by going to this website:  www.1098-t.com and following the directions.

The 1098-T, along with your copies of billing statements, should be used by your tax preparer to determine your eligibility for a tax credit. Because each taxpayer's circumstances may vary, we cannot provide tax advice or assistance related to these tax credits. Any questions regarding how to claim the credit should be addressed to a qualified tax preparer.   A copy of your 1098-T is available at www.1098t.com after January 31, 2013.

A helpful resource regarding these tax credits is:

"I think one of the most crucial aspects of the Daemen curriculum is the required internship. I was an accounting intern for both a private health care company and a certified public accounting firm. I was able to apply lessons learned in the classroom to real business situations. When my internships were over, each company offered me a full-time position."
