Psychology of Sex and Love

Psychology of Sex and Love

As a psychology course, the emphasis is on the subjective experience of sexuality, but the course includes an overview of the sexual biology of men and women. Topics include the evolution of sexuality, gender, sexual health, sexual orientation, attraction and desire, romantic relationships, sexual behaviors, cultural variation, and sexual violence.

One of the interesting activities completed in this course is a "quiz" on whether the sexual information we have learned and come to believe is actually supported by the research or not. The course then teaches students why the various items are true or false.

A few example items are:

A woman can’t get pregnant during her period. T/F
40% of men ages 18-25 report not having had sexual intercourse in the last year.      T/F
