American Opportunity and Lifetime Learning Credits

The University will report to the IRS required information about students who were enrolled for at least one (1) credit hour in any semester in the 2021 tax year. Students will receive a 1098-T Tax Form in the mail by February 1, 2022.  The 1098-T may also be accessed by going to this website: and following the directions.  For further questions, please contact Heartland at 1-866-428-1098 or Live Chat (via website).

The 1098-T should be used by your tax preparer to determine your eligibility for a tax credit. Because each taxpayer's circumstances may vary, we cannot provide tax advice or assistance related to these tax credits. Any questions regarding how to claim the credit should be addressed to a qualified tax preparer.   A copy of your 1098-T is available at after January 31, 2022.

A helpful resource regarding these tax credits is: IRS Publication 970: Tax Benefits for Education.
