Homecoming & Family Weekend


HOMECOMING & FAMILY WEEKEND is the time for students, family, alumni, and faculty to come together to mix and meet, and share in the ever-changing experience of Daemen College.  This year we will be featuring a number of events and activities during the weekend including our showcase guest speaker, W. Kamau Bell.  We invite you to join us November 6 & 7, 2015, together with the entire Daemen College community and participate in the festivities.   

Detailed information will be mailed out to students' families in September, with information also posted to our website.  We look forward to seeing you in November!

Friday, November 6, 2015

4:30 PM – 6:30 PM;  Wick Center Cyber Café

Wildcat Welcome TGIF!
A warm "Wildcat Welcome" to our entire Daemen family to this TGIF gathering featuring some Buffalo-themed favorites, including live music, finger foods, and a selection of fine wines and frothy ales to sample.  We’ll also have a Photo Booth and other attractions, just for the fun of it!  A great chance for students, faculty, families, and alumni to have some fun and meet and greet.   Free Admission.  Hosted by the Daemen College Alumni Ambassadors.

Distinguished Alumni Dinner!
Reserve your seats for this dinner that recognizes several outstanding alumnae/alumni, and also get to meet and mingle with the Presidents of Daemen’s student organizations.  Presale tickets only -- contact the Alumni Relations Office (716-839-8212) for tickets and information.

Women's Basketball Exhibition
Come cheer on the women's basketall team in their first exhibition game of the season in our home gym.  Let the Wildcats out of the cage!

MusicalFare Theatre Presents: PAGEANT
An all-time favorite MusicalFare production returns to the stage!  This howlingly hysterical musical is a send-up of beauty pageants where the audience gets to vote on a different winner every night as the six contestants compete for the title of Miss Glamouresse.  The female contestants: Miss Deep South, Miss West Coast, Miss Great Plains, Miss Bible Belt, Miss Industrial Northeast and Miss Texas are all clearly played by men…body hair and all!

Backyard Campfire
Come enjoy the warmth of a campfire, some hot cider, and donuts, while listening to some unplugged acoustic entertainment.  Hosted by Daemen's Greek organizations.

Bring your walking shoes and sign up to start the day with an invigorating walk with members of Daemen’s Athletic Training Student Association and the Health Care Studies Student Association..   Sign up for either the 5K neighborhood walk, or the 2K on-campus loop.

Come out an cheer on our Wildcats team as they take on the NY Institute of Technology.

Brunch & Market Walk
Enjoy this lively buffet-style brunch featuring live musical entertainment by the gypsy jazz group The Hot Club of Buffalo.  Several of Daemen’s student organizations, artists, and hobbyists will also have booths and displays set up in a city-style marketplace for your perusal and patronage.  


Tickets for the brunch are only $5.00 presale by November 5; or $6.75 cash-at-the-door.  Current resident students do not need to buy a ticket  {part of board plan}; children under 5 years old are free. Make reservations online (see below).

Whether a Wildcat or Warrior fan, our alumni players prove that the Daemen spirit stays strong at any age.   Come see our alumni players take on the current student team.

Chillin' in Wick
What better way to spend an afternoon than chillin' with some of our student clubs in Wick Center on a Saturday afternoon. 
Come over to Wick and enjoy:

  • Complimentary Ice Cream scooped and served by the new Student Association Senate.
  • Musical performances by the Music Club, and student band Yesterday vs Tomorrow (unplugged).
  • Live Community Art piece facilitated by the Art Club.
  • Open knitting session with Student Stitchers Knitting & Crocheting Club
  • Mini-Kan Jam competition run by Omega Epsilon Zeta
  • Caricatures by Daemen Drawing Club
  • Animation and Story Production Club movie (or Anime Club) viewing.
  • Open Dance lesson in rhumba, salsa, and meringue, by Daemen Dance Club and LaLUCHA!

An Afrikan Amerikan Festival! 

The evening begins with a festive promenade of themed food stations featuring both native African and African American cuisine, while sampling fine wines, ales, and lighter beverages to musical performances by Drea D'Nur and Verse, and the The Saakumu Dance Troupe of Ghana.

GUEST SPEAKER:  "The W. Kamau Bell Surve:  Ending Racism in About an Hour"

Socio-political comedian W. Kamau Bell has emerged as the post-modern voice of comedy. Named an Ambassador of Racial Justice by the ACLU, his weekly half-hour FX comedy series, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, premiered in August 2012 and became a critically acclaimed but criminally short nightly show in September of 2013 on FX’s new comedy network FXX. The NY Times called Kamau “the most promising new talent in political comedy in many years.”

Admission is free.

Casino Night
We slide the party next door to our Social Room transformed into a dazzling Casino Cabaret with live musical entertainment by Ade Adu!  Admission is free, and a stack of playing chips is $5.    Try your hand at casino-style games played with chips that get "cashed-in" for lottery tickets to some terrific prizes!   Hosted by Lambda Chi Iota sorority.
