The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Daemen College provides students with the ability to gain additional expertise outside of their majors by offering the following minors:
A minor in art is perfect for any Daemen students interested in the visual arts, and will allow for a broad area of study within studio arts, including drawing, design, painting, or ceramics.
- Art History
A minor in Art History is easily attainable by all Daemen students, especially those interested in learning about art from a wide range of cultures, time periods, and approaches.
- Graphic Design
A minor in Graphic Design is encouraged for students already pursuing a degree in art, especially Illustration. Students will complete work in typography, web-design, and motion graphics.
A minor in Illustration is encouraged for students already pursuing a degree in art, especially Graphic Design. Students complete a variety of approaches to visual narrative, in media ranging from computer-generated, collage, and drawing media.
A minor in painting is encouraged for students already pursuing a degree in art, especially Visual Arts Education. Students in this minor work in oil and acrylic media, and complete a focused body of work during their second year in the minor.
A minor in sculpture is encouraged for students already pursuing a degree in art, especially Visual Arts Education. Students work in a variety of three-dimensional media, and explore the tools and techniques of a sculpture workshop.
- Theatre Arts
A minor in Theater Arts is an opportunity for all Daemen students. Coursework in theatrical history, practice and design leads to a greater understanding of performance and cultural impact.
