Why did you choose Daemen College?
The moment I toured Daemen, I knew it was where I wanted to be. The people here are so personable and welcoming and make it easy to feel at home. Daemen is known for its excellent medical programs, which was something I was looking for in a college. I was also looking for a college that knew me by name, not by number. Small schools like Daemen make it easy for students to get one-on-one interaction with teachers--something I knew I would need to succeed academically.
Why did you choose your present major?
I had always wanted to be a doctor. When I found out Daemen had a Pre-Med program, I was ecstatic. I have always been fascinated with the human body and how it works and I love working with people from all walks of life. It is my passion to help people with their needs. One of my goals is to save someone’s life one day and with my educational background at Daemen, I will be able to do just that.
Please describe your academic experience at Daemen College.
Daemen is known to be a rigorous college when it comes to academics. The transfer from high school to college is very difficult academically. I had to switch up my studying habits and visit my professors frequently. Thankfully, the faculty at Daemen are always here to help.
What clubs or organizations have you been a part of here at Daemen College?
I am the secretary of Pre-Med club at Daemen. I absolutely love this club because I get to hear and learn about older medical students’ experiences. Recently we had a suture clinic that taught us how to suture-- it was such an amazing experience. In the future, we plan on having guest speakers, conducting community service events, and preparing for the MCAT’s.
What is your favorite campus hangout? Why?
I love hanging out at the RIC or the Den. Both places are great for getting work done. The RIC has study rooms that are convenient for group projects or study sessions. Around the corner is also a small café where you can grab a coffee before settling down to study. Like the RIC, the Den provides space for students to catch up on their academics, while also grabbing a bite to eat. The Den offers a wide variety of comfort food, which makes studying a little bit more manageable!
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan on attending med school. I would love to specialize in ER, Radiology, or Dermatology. I honestly cannot wait to further my education and see what my future holds.
