What was your reason for coming to Daemen College?
I was in the U.S. Air Force for 6 years and after I got out I had the Post 9/11 GI Bill. I called a couple of different local colleges who had a Religious Studies Major and Kevin Fricano answered all my questions right away. Within a few weeks, and with the help of many Daemen staff and faculty members, I was seamlessly and quickly situated here at Daemen.
What do you aspire to be after college/what are your career plans?
My plan currently is to use up the remaining benefits of the Post 9/11 GI Bill and get a master’s degree and possibly more. I would like to get a job in the government somewhere as a main career. Also, becoming a priest is in the long term plans down the road.
Please describe your impressions of Daemen College.
I love it here. My advisor is unbelievably helpful and attentive and responds quickly to questions and is always helping me in any way. The faculty and support staff are also extremely nice and treat you with dignity and respect and also move things in a quick and timely manner. The campus is well maintained and it’s easy to get from class to class and other student interest spots in a reasonable amount of time. The college is always improving and looking to correct any problems or issues for current and future students.
Tell us about your life outside of academics: clubs, sports, hobbies, things to do around Buffalo, NY.
I live in downtown Buffalo and the commute to campus is only 15 minutes. There are a ton of fun and exciting things to do around the metro area. I currently work part time at a hardware store that is only 10 minutes from Daemen. Daemen has a great location and it is easy to get anywhere quickly. I’m hoping to join a club soon. I use the veterans lounge a lot and it is a great feature here at Daemen for veterans.
Please describe any internship, study abroad, service learning, or academic experience (Academic Festival or research you are working on or have worked on in the past).
I participated in the Academic Festival last spring and was a part of the UN simulation, which was very well thought out and informative. My research is and has been based mostly on many different religious themes. Dr. Kelley has helped facilitate in depth and revealing research and drives me to learn more about my major even when I’m not in school.
