I had the amazing opportunity to fulfill an internship in Washington, DC through the Washington Internship Institute program. My internship took place through the Department of Education with the Office of the Inspector General.

What was your reason for coming to Daemen College?

I chose to come to Daemen College because of its small class sizes, as well as the scholarships offered.

What do you aspire to be after college/what are your career plans?

I plan to go to law school and become an education lawyer, and one day work for the Department of Education as the Sectary of Education. Also, I want to create my own nonprofit and host my own talk show.

Please describe your impressions of Daemen College?

Daemen College is a small-knit community that is dedicated to your academic and career success. Its small class sizes allow you to receive one on one attention from all of your professors.

Tell us about your life outside of academics: clubs, sports, hobbies, things to do around Buffalo, NY.

I am President of Sister to Sister, a female’s women empowerment group. I enjoy reading and going to church. Buffalo has a rich history of the performing arts with many great theaters to visit!

Please describe any internship, study abroad, service learning, or academic experience (Academic Festival or research you are working on or have worked on in the past).

I had the amazing opportunity to fulfill an internship in Washington, DC through the Washington Internship Institute program. With the help of career services here at Daemen, I was accepted into the program and left for Washington, DC in August and stayed through December. My internship took place through the Department of Education with the Office of Inspector General. During my time there, I had a variety of tasks including statistical analysis, handled hotline complaints, and worked on fraud investigations. One of my favorite memories while being there was when I was given the opportunity to discuss a proposal I created on public education to the Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan. Although I was hard at work with my internship and two classes, I did get a chance to tour many historical buildings such as the treasury building, Lincoln memorial, Smithsonian, and the White House! Because I had such a great experience with my internship, I plan on heading back to DC to attend graduate school. Currently, I am completing my senior thesis that will focus on public education.
