Why did you choose Daemen College?
I was looking for a school that provided the same small and intimate class sizes as my high school. Daemen also has a great reputation in the health care community and I thought its reputation would be an asset when looking for my first job in the health care field.
Why did you choose your present major?
After completing my undergraduate degree at Daemen, I knew that the MPH program would be a comfortable transition and that I would continue receiving a quality education. Another selling point was that the evening classes and flexible scheduling allowed me to start working within the field while earning my degree.
Please describe your academic experience at Daemen College.
I entered Daemen in the Physician’s Assistant Program. After two years of classes and experiences, I realized that the path for me was not on the treatment side of medicine-- it was in prevention. I enrolled in health promotion with a minor in global awareness, graduated, and entered the MPH program.
What clubs or organizations have you been a part of at Daemen College? What kinds of things do they do?
I was an active member and president of Lambda Chi Iota—a sorority on campus dedicated to community service in and around Buffalo, NY. As an undergrad, I co-founded and was the vice president of the Health Promotion Student Association.
I am the currently the President of the Master of Public Health Student Association (MPHSA), an organization that promotes public health in the community and on campus. Members also regularly attend state and national conferences as a way to promote the Daemen program and strengthen our public health knowledge.
What is your favorite campus hangout? Why?
My favorite campus hangout spot has always been the RIC. The RIC has many different study areas and places to hangout and I have found myself spending a lot of time there over the past 6 years.
What are your plans after graduation?
My plans after graduation include a career in my field with the possibility of continuing my education.
