Why did you choose Daemen College?
I chose Daemen because it is close to home and its small size makes it feel really welcoming.
Why did you choose your present major?
I wanted to be able to work with people on a personal level and help them solve problems. I have an interest in the law field and I am passionate about protecting the environment. My dual major is the perfect combination of my interests.
Please describe your academic experience at Daemen.
My workload is heavy, but I know that I will be well prepared to enter my field when I graduate. I know I will gain the skills to be successful after graduation. This motivates me to work hard. My professors and advisors are very helpful and encourage me to do the best work I can. They also help me find new learning opportunities inside and outside of school.
What do you like best about Daemen?
I like Daemen's small class sizes the best. Everyone gets to know each other and we have great class discussions. It is easy to make friends and work with your classmates. You see many of the same people often and it's easy to connect and form relationships with people inside and outside your major.
What clubs or organizations have you been a part of here at Daemen College? What kinds of things do they do?
I am a member of the Paralegal Club. We raise money for charities and talk about our interests in the legal field. We have also taken a trip to Albany to see the state capital and the New York Court of Appeals.
Please describe any internship, study abroad, service learning or academic experience?
I did my service learning at Vive, a shelter in Buffalo for people seeking asylum in the U.S. and Canada. I worked as an intern for their in-house lawyer. I did legal research and got to work on real cases. It was a wonderful experience and I still use the skills that I learned while working there. This semester I am a legal intern at a local law firm. I am getting the experience I will need to get a good job after I graduate.
