Why did you choose Daemen College?

I chose Daemen because of the unique 3+4 pre vet program. During my college search I was looking for a school with a veterinary program and Daemen's was the most specific.

Why did you choose your present major?

I have always been interested in veterinary medicine and helping both people and animals.

Please describe your academic experience at Daemen College. (Ex: It is challenging, but I know it will prepare me for my career, etc.)

I think it is challenging but I also know it is preparing me for the future, especially in vet school when I will have a lot more work than in undergrad.

Do you live on campus? Please tell us about your on campus experiences.

I do live on campus. I lived in Canavan my freshman year and now I live in the Campus Apartments. I think both were very good living experiences, but I do enjoy living in the apartments more because of the bigger space and the fact that I have my own room. However, when I was living in Canavan I did not really have any negative experiences, everything was just less spacious as residence halls usually are.

What do you like best about Daemen College?

I like that Daemen has a 3+4 vet program and that it is more specific than most other pre-professional programs I have seen. I also appreciate the small campus size, community feel, and small class size.

What clubs or organizations have you been a part of here at Daemen College? What kinds of things do they do?

I am part of the Pre-Vet Club. We have participated in a Pre-Vet symposium, taken field trips, and fundraised for the club. During the symposium I was also able to get information about a pre-vet study abroad opportunity that I participated in this summer when I visited Thailand. I am also a part of AAUW (American Association of University Women) which focus on women's rights issues in relation to topics such as social justice and politics. We host and attend events that highlight women's issues and ways in which they can be tackled. I am also part of the Honors Program which focuses on academics but also connecting with others in the group. We host events on campus and do other things as a group, such as participating in the breast cancer walk.
