Why did you choose Daemen College?
I chose Daemen College because I felt so welcomed at every event I came too. I loved how the campus and the class sizes were small. This was the perfect environment for me to do well in such a competitive program!
Why did you choose your present major?
I always wanted to make a difference in the lives of people I meet and I felt like I could do this best by providing incredible patient-care. I chose being a PA over a doctor because I thought it allowed me to balance my work and life which is very important to me.
Please describe your academic experience at Daemen College.
The PA program is very time consuming and can be challenging at times, but every moment is worth it because I know that I have a great career in the end. All the teachers, especially in the PA program, work so hard to make sure that we understand the material and that we are able apply this knowledge. It’s amazing to see our teachers so passionate about a certain topic and their jobs.
Please describe the impact Daemen faculty, staff and advisors have had on you.
The faculty, staff, and advisors have had such a huge impact on me and are the reasons for so many of my accomplishments while at Daemen. The faculty are so willing to take time out of their schedule to make sure that you fully understand the topic. By going to all of my professors' office hours, I was able to build a great relationship with them. I showed my teachers my dedication to learning and how hard I work. These ethics of mine caused the teachers to suggest me as a coach for their class. It is a very rewarding experience when you get to work with the faculty, who are so so smart. The staff really pushes me to become the best student and person I can be.
Please describe any internship, study abroad, service learning or academic experience? (For example, Academic Festival, Research Think Tank, etc.)
I did an internship at Roswell Park. It was very rewarding to be able to apply what I learned in the classroom to patients. I learned so much about pediatric cancers and their treatments from my amazing mentor. I have a new respect for all those who work in the oncology field. Because of my experience, I can confidently read research papers and understand them a lot more and I can create a research project and poster. I would suggest this opportunity for anyone in the medical field because it was such an eye opening and unbelievable experience.
