The combined BS Health Promotion / MPH Public Health at Daemen College allows qualified students the opportunity to obtain two degrees in just five years.  This accelerated program design allows for the blending of undergraduate and graduate coursework, providing both foundational and advanced knowledge and experiences to bring students into rewarding careers in a vastly growing public health field.

Program Highlights

  • The combined BS Health Promotion / MPH Public Health program provides a fast track to degree completion, saving students money and allowing for an earlier career start.
  • The BS in Health Promotion curriculum provides a specialization in Community Health.  Students chose from one of three areas: Education, Administration or Community Health Principles.
  • The Community Health focus provides a full spectrum perspective, incorporating: health system management, administration and policy, global and environmental health, community-based education and advocacy, behavior change theory, and program planning and evaluation.
  • During the 4th year of study, qualified students incorporate graduate level coursework to complete their undergraduate degree requirements including courses in Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Psychosocial and Behavioral Foundations of Public Health, and two additional PH electives, based on the area of MPH focus.
  • All MPH classes begin late afternoon/early evening, respecting students’ desire and need to fulfill a full-time work schedule during the day.
  • The combined program provides both a professional development course in the undergraduate program, immediately followed by a practicum in the first summer of the graduate program, allowing students to engage with community partners, to develop professional skills and to build their resumes along the way.
  • The combined coursework allows interested students the chance to prepare for certifications that expand future opportunity- such as the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC)
