Hayley’s teaching career began in 2012 after her professor and the co-founder of Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo provided an opportunity for Hayley to develop the children’s Italian course and become the center’s first children’s instructor. After several years of teaching for the center, Hayley transitioned into general education, teaching first, second, and sixth grade in various Buffalo charter schools over the next several years. Hayley’s dedication to creating an innovative and real-world learning environment for her students opened the door for her to serve as the grade chair at her final elementary school.
After leaving elementary education, Hayley went on to teach English as a new language in the adult education department of the KenTon school district. Here, she led the level 2/3 class and organized a variety of cultural experiences and field trips. She also took on the role of president of the parent board of her son’s school, rebuilding its structure and systems to improve the board's compliance, image, and performance.
Hayley has left adult education and has joined the Alfiero School of Business as their administrative assistant, where she uses the behind-the-scenes skills she has developed as a teacher to help support the department’s faculty and students.
