AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen College will host the second meeting of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s Common Core Task Force scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Wick Campus Center Social Room on Daemen’s campus at 4380 Main St., Amherst.

“Daemen is honored to be chosen by Gov. Cuomo as the venue for this important public session of the Common Core Task Force,” said Daemen President Gary A. Olson. “Our college is a place where all views and perspectives are welcomed, including those that will be the focus of the Common Core Task Force public meeting. This is an important opportunity for educators, students and families of Western New York.”

The Common Core Task Force was established in September to review and make recommendations to overhaul the current Common Core system and the way students are tested. The task force, which is chaired by Richard Parsons, senior advisor at Providence Equity Partners, Inc., and former chair of the board of Citigroup, Inc., consists of 15 members, including Dr. Nancy L. Zimpher, chancellor of the State University of New York, and New York State Commissioner of Education MaryEllen Elia.
