Daemen Named a Top Military Friendly School in the Nation

Nov 13, 2015

AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen College has been selected by Victory Media for the seventh consecutive year as a Military Friendly School. The national designation is awarded to top colleges, universities, community colleges, and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace student veterans and have dedicated resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.

“This prestigious national distinction is a testament to Daemen’s continuing commitment to our student veterans and to their success as vital members of our college community,” said Daemen President Gary A. Olson. “We are honored to once again be named a Military Friendly School.”

At Daemen, the Nancy Haberman Gacioch Center for Veterans provides assistance, resources and support to student veterans pursuing a degree at the college. It also offers a centralized place on campus where veterans may study or connect with other students with military service.

In addition to the center, Daemen hosts several veteran-related activities and events throughout the academic year.

Now in its seventh year, the Military Friendly Schools designation includes institutions from across the U.S. that have demonstrated the best practices to support military students. Institutions competed for the prestigious distinction based on a survey covering 10 categories, including support for student veterans on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, and military spouse policies.
