BUFFALO, N.Y. – Buffalo’s refugee population will receive free health screenings and wellness information from physician assistant, nursing, and physical therapy students and faculty at Daemen College’s fifth annual Refugee Health Fair scheduled for April 9.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the auditorium of Jewish Family Service of Buffalo and Erie County at 70 Barker St., Buffalo.

Health screenings will be provided for blood pressure, body mass index, vision, heart, lungs, and ear, nose, and throat.

Daemen students will also offer refugees information on nutrition, preventative care, medical care choices, oral care, over-the-counter medications, hand washing, and pain management techniques. Exercise stations will be set up for attendees, and giveaways and snacks will be available.

In addition, various community organizations will be on hand to provide information and referrals to local social services agencies.

The Refugee Health Fair is being co-sponsored by Daemen and Jewish Family Service of Buffalo and Erie County.
