Student Receives Scholarship for Internship

Nov 8, 2018

AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen College student Alyssa Schlosser has been awarded a First Niagara Foundation Scholarship, which provides financial assistance for full-semester or summer student internships.

The $2,500 scholarship is awarded to students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are participating in unpaid credit-bearing internships.

Schlosser, a health promotion major with a specialization in health fitness, is currently an intern in SUNY Buffalo State Athletics.

“I am honored and grateful to receive the First Niagara Foundation Scholarship,” said Schlosser. “This scholarship is giving me great financial support during my internship and the opportunity to build my skills to better serve the community in my career.”

A Wilson resident, Schlosser earned an associate’s degree from Niagara County Community College.

Established in 2018, the First Niagara Foundation Scholarship is funded by a $25,000 grant from the foundation to provide financial support to students involved in unpaid internships. The Daemen Office of Career Services selects the scholarship recipients from among students participating in fall, spring, or summer internships that are done for course credit.
