4:30 PM to 7:30 PM - Wick Center Alumni Lounge: On Friday, February 22, Daemen College will host a launch event for Stefan Foster’s most recent publication, titled: The State of EMOTION. The event will feature a film synthesized with electronic sounds, and artifacts of psychiatric care. Visiting hours for the event will be 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. in Alumni Lounge in Wick Center. The event is free. According to Foster, 21, his publication is inspired by his brother, Ryan, who is developmentally disabled. “My brother is my best friend. My family has always had his best interests at heart. He lives at home and makes strides of progress each day, but not every person born with disabilities receives such support.” Foster’s publication, a compilation of law and imagery, is an effort to bring awareness to past eras of mental hygiene and the lives of institutionalized persons. Many sites from Buffalo and the Western New York region are explored. His publication, film, and printed photographs will be on display during this one-night immersive experience. Journey behind privacy glass through muted psychiatric wards, black tunnels, and the best dust of stars.
