Daemen Named a College of Distinction – for 15th Straight Year

Daemen University has been named a national College of Distinction – a prestigious recognition given to higher education institutions – as an acknowledgement of distinction in teaching, scholarship and student success.

The honor marks the 15th consecutive year Daemen has received this designation.

In addition to receiving an overall honor for its undergraduate offerings and experience, Daemen earned distinction for three academic programs –business, education and nursing

The institution was also recognized for its support for students who are active duty and military veterans.

“Reaching 15 consecutive years of recognition as one of the country’s top institutions of higher learning is a testament to the Daemen community’s commitment to students and their academic and professional success,” said Daemen President Gary Olson. “We are proud of this honor and look forward to continuing to serve our students.”

Contributing to the selection of Daemen’s academic programs were a variety of factors, including accreditation status, multidisciplinary learning approaches, practical experiences and professional connections offered to students, departmental ethics, and other criteria.

Colleges of Distinction also highlighted Daemen for “an exemplary commitment to student engagement, great teaching, creating a vibrant campus community, and successful outcomes.”

The Colleges of Distinction selection process involves an analysis of institutional data and other quantitative evidence.

“Every student has individual needs and their own environment in which they’re most likely to thrive,” said Wes Creel, founder of Colleges of Distinction. “We want to extend our praise to the schools that prioritize and cater to students’ goals.”

Creel continued, “We’re inspired by the ways in which Daemen University immerses students in their fields, all while fostering a welcoming community that will support them through and beyond their college years.”
