AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen College will welcome more than 500 new students and their families and officially open the 2019-20 academic year at the college’s annual Convocation ceremony scheduled for 3 p.m. Aug. 31 in the Wick Campus Center Dining Room.

AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen College will host a site visit by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) for continuing accreditation of the college’s baccalaureate nursing program (RN to BS program – includes 1+2+1 academic progression model) and the master’s/post-master’s certificate nursing programs. This is a concurrent visit with the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions for the purpose of re-registration and accreditation.

6:00 PM to 8:00 PM - Rosary Hall RH Reception Area: This panel discussion will focus on the presidential nomination process and be led by experts on the process Dr. Lisa Parshall, Dr. Jay Wendland, and Dr. Bohdan Szklarski (a guest panelist from the University of Warsaw currently teaching at the University of South Carolina, as part of the Fulbright scholar program). The discussion will include a discussion of the rules of the primary process, the strategies employed by candidates throughout the process, and the role of the early states in setting the stage for the remainder of the primary season. The panel will also include a discussion from students who traveled to Iowa with Dr. Jay Wendland in January, as part of a Think Tank grant, to experience the retail politics leading up to the Iowa caucuses.
