Why did you choose Daemen University?

After having many talks with God, I feel like he placed it in my heart to go to Daemen. I wasn’t sure about my college process and where I should go. I prayed for signs and everything showed Daemen was the school for me.

Why did you choose your present major?

I always desire to work in the medical field and also it will be an honor to be the first immediate family to have a job in that field . After hearing about the adequate treatment of black women face in the medical field, I wanted to become a representation for my community.

Please describe your academic experience at Daemen.

The professors are really helpful. As long as you use your resources everything will be fine.

What do you like best about Daemen?

I love the education at Daemen. The library is my best friend and it’s so calming to do my work there.

What clubs or organizations have you been a part of here at Daemen University? What kinds of things do they do?

I am a part of the nurses association-  I am the Vice President. I’ve been active with raising money for organizations and just ensuring that the nursing program is a well put together community. But I hope to be more involved with the black student union this semester and actually to activities for the community.

Do you have a job or jobs on campus? Please provide a brief description.

I work at Wegmans and Franco’s. However during school I take breaks from work so I can focus on my education.

What is your favorite spot to stop by in town?

Any soul food place. I love my culture- we communicate love through our food.

What piece of advice would you give to prospective students?

Please learn time management and discipline! I definitely believe my first semester was a learning experience to do way better. Use your resources- make sure your work is done and do it to the best of it your ability. Don’t worry about making new friends they will come to come - you’ll find your groups. Make sure you have fun too- this is your college experience.
