Why did you choose Daemen College?

I chose Daemen College because I felt the most at home here compared to the other colleges I looked at. This partly had to do with the smaller size of the school, but also because I knew that the faculty and staff here are on my side 100% and want to help me succeed; I'm not just a number. I knew that by going to Daemen, I would be provided with a plethora of opportunities and would be given experiences unlike any other.

Why did you choose your present major?

I chose Childhood/Special Education 1-6 as my major because of the experience I have working with children in a classroom setting and because of my passion for helping people learn new ideas and concepts. I completed an internship in a first grade classroom my junior year of high school and volunteer as a first grade religion teacher at my church. Both of these experiences validated my, not only, interest, but passion for teaching children and helping them to grow as individuals.

Please describe your academic experience at Daemen College. (Ex: It is challenging, but I know it will prepare me for my career, etc.)

So far, my experience at Daemen has brought upon me a variety of challenges, but also has raised many questions about myself as an individual. By this, I can tell already that Daemen will not only give me the education and preparation I need to begin my career in the real world, but will also guide me towards a better understanding of myself. These both will not only shape my life, but my career, for the better.

What is your favorite campus hangout? Why?

My favorite campus hangout is the section of booths in between 78 West and the RIC. I like this area because it is a way to connect with a bunch of people at one time! There's a bunch of traffic passing by so you will always see your friends from your classes, and there's enough room in the booths to sit with a bunch of people where you're able to bond over school and chill. Whether you're there to study or chat with a coffee, it's always a good time:)

What do you like best about Daemen College?

What I like best about Daemen College is the small school environment. In my opinion, this has led me to create more friendships with people whom I share classes with and has made it easier to meet new people! Everyone seems to know everyone which helps when you're starting a whole new chapter of your life...and also helps to create possible study groups! In terms of class sizes, I love how small they are because you aren't afraid to speak up, ask questions, and participate! All in all, it provides for a more personalized experience which I believe is a rarity in higher education.

Do you have a favorite campus activity?

I don't have one specific campus activity that comes to mind, but I like how every event that Daemen holds brings everyone together! Sometimes you get so used to seeing the same people because of your classes, major, dorm floor, clubs, etc. and forget that there is still a lot of people you haven't met yet or seen in a while. It's nice to use these events and activities as a chance to either reconnect with old faces or meet new people, which is why I think it's imperative for everyone to get involved in these opportunities:)

What clubs or organizations have you been a part of here at Daemen College? What kinds of things do they do?

Last spring, I was involved with the PLSA moot court trial. The PLSA helps with political awareness on campus with events such as a voter registration table in the fall. I am also involved with the Education Club which allows education students to get involved in agencies outside of Daemen in our career field, as well as getting Daemen students involved in things such as book drives and bake sales. I recently became a student athlete on the cheerleading team! Being a part of the cheer team is brand new for me, so I am excited to see what new experiences it will provide me with!
